The summer camp programs support the Empire State Special Needs Experience, Inc. at Lions Camp Badger overall mission which is to establish, operate and maintain programs in which individuals with special needs of any age may obtain services that will enhance their educational, vocational, personal growth and independence. The program is designed to be inclusive of children with and without disabilities and we attempt to provide "reasonable accommodations" as much as possible. Youth with disabilities may have a wide range of learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Common diagnoses include Developmental Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Aspergers, Pervasive Developmental Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Non Verbal Learning Disabilities.
////
We do not have the expertise or capabilities to support youth and young adults with complex emotional and behavioral disabilities.
////
Also, all campers must be able to take care of their hygiene and other self-care tasks, be continent, as well as self-manage in a group and respond to direction and authority. We can accommodate personal aides for a limited number of campers. In this case, an additional fee will be charged to offset the costs of employing the aide including the cost of providing food and lodging.
